Odd updates from my odd life

Return to Planet Earth

After last week's swooning, I got down off of my cloud as got back to the real world.

An email went round from Gareth McChlery, asking for a London place to crash while he finished rehearsals and before he went on tour.  After chatting to Geir and Denis (who can still save the world...urrrgh) I sorted out Geir's room for him to stay in as Geir wouldn't be back from edinburgh til after Gareth had gone.  Monday night was pretty much as planned - after a kickabout in Regents Park, I went home and ended up having an evening of phone calls.  Still high on the newness of Ami, I was blathering away to about 4 or 5 different friends about her before chatting to the lady herself and making plans for the following night.  I ended the evening talking to Muzz before a wave of tiredness hit me and I ended up nearly falling asleep on the phone - not through Mr Barber's chat I assure you - before heading for bed.

At work we were gearing up for the office move at the end of the week, so there was lots to be getting on with - including packing.  It was a little boring, but that's to be expected.  In the evening Ami and I went for dinner at a gastropub type place in Crystal Palace before heading back to hers.  Things seemed a little more nervous than before when we were together, both in the pub and back at her, but she said that she was just a little tired and still feeling the after-effects of the flu that she had over the weekend.

After work I met Keri for a pint (or 3) to catch up on each others' adventures.  The chat was flowing and it seems like she's had a great time and thanked me for being a part of it.  Once I was home, I was on the phone to Ami again and grinning like a Cheshire cat.

Thursday morning, Gareth came round to drop off his stuff just before I headed off to work, where, with the computers all packed up for the weekend's move, I was given the afternoon off and told to come back in Friday lunchtime to see what was needed done.  With the spare time, I went and bought steak, potatoes (she likes mash and had mentioned that she hadn't eaten it for ages) and veg to grill (a new favourite of mine and almost the only way I'll have my 5 portions a day) as well as cleaning the flat - including mopping the floors and scrubbing the kitchen to a gleam.  The food went well - everything was ready at the same time - and Ami enjoyed it.

Friday was a pretty quiet one.  I got a call in the morning saying that there was no need to come in (boost!) but to come in early on Monday.  Spent the morning watching films on Homechoice and chilling.  I then went to see the show that Sarah had been working on all week.  it was pretty good for what it was and a couple of the kids were really great and after a wee while we went bakc to Kerri and Steve's, as Sarah and Luke were staying there while K&S were on holiday.  We had a really quality evening chatting, chilling and then, towards the end of the evening I sat down with Luke (as Sarah dozed on the sofa) and played Tiger Woods golf.  I eventually stopped at 5am, addicted and determined to find me a copy for the PS2 the next day.

I duly got up in the morning and headed back early to pick up my keys from Gareth, stopping at Wollworth's on the way to buy the computer game.  I was intending heading down to the Rob Roy, but my guts weren't feeling too good, I was knackered and knew that a drinking session wouldn't be the best thing and so settled down to an afternoon of dozing and Tiger Woods.  By early evening I wasn't feeling much better and let Keri know that I wasn't going to make some drinks that she invited me along to that night.  I went to bed, hoping that I'd feel (and the weather would be) a little better for the picnic I'd planned the next day.

Well it wasn't.  A light drizzle, followed by cloud cover as far as the eye could see meant that it was going to be an afternoon in the pub instead.  I took some Nurofen on my empty stomach and had some toast before meeting Emma and her pal Sam who were the first to arrive.  Harry went straight to the pub as he nursed the hangover from hell and we joined him there after a short while.  By the end, Mark, Sue, Laura, Mono, Caroline, Tom and Michaela all dropped by.  I hadn't anticipated all those guys making the effort of coming up to see me and there was some great chat all round.  I went home and Gareth later joined me and we had big chats about his break-up from Dawn, played some golf and hit the hay...
