Non-wedding stuff
Understandably, the wedding was the main event in a busy week, so here's what else has happened...
R&J - A good rehearsal on Thursday night - chatted about the main characters (as we were the only ones there) and discussing the play in general. Blocked Act 2 which takes us up to the interval. Glad we're cracking on and determined to get my lines down. Afterwards I headed home to pack for the weekend and get in as much sleep as possible for the trip north. As it happened, rather like the EuroDisney advert I was too excited and only got around 3 hours. After coming back on Monday night, we finished blocking the play, which left us in a good position after only a week of rehearsals. Last night was OK too. It's starting to differ from how Richard went. There are little relationships happening off the page - Mercutio is bonding with Romeo, the Nurse is chatting to Juliet offstage a lot, the Montagues haven't really mixed with the Capulets. The bulk of the cast are a lot younger, so there seems to be a bit more chatting, posturing and less focus. I may be getting picky, as it's only early doors, and Romeo, Juliet and Mercutio all didn't have scripts yesterday, so I should reserve judgement until the middle of July. The people seem fine enough - there's a few Mountview students, so can chat about the few tutors that were still working from when I was learning there, it just doesn't have the same company feel as before - but it's early doors. John and Ben are great as ever and want me to grow my hair and beard for the role. Yikes...
Work - things are just too hectic. Goalposts keep getting shifted and certain team members are really pissing me off now. To the point of seriously considering quitting. When I was off ill recently, I started thinking what I could get done acting wise if only I didn't need the full time money. I could throw myself into things, be able to join a co-op agency to get me paid auditions - I also worry about opportunities being lost. Balancing that out was the consideration of how I'd be able to afford to live and whether i could truly maintain focus and not get lazy. I'm off to Germany for an event next week (which doesn't look too hectic, though muggins seems to be the only one that isn't missing a shift, the bast&rds) with some of the better people, but it takes over my whole weekend as well as most of next week. Being busy has been good, but now I need to find some chill time instead of forcing myself to chill at night.
Social - not much time for that recently, as you can doubtless tell. I have Grant's stag and wedding coming up, so am excited about them, but nervous financially. I didn't fancy having no partner for the wedding and thought Laura might like to come and watch someone she had a childhood crush on tie the knot, but she was too crushed at the thought of it to come.
So once again, an invite for one. Wonder if I'll get put on a table with lovely girls like at Biz's? Leading me nicely on to... I emailed Keri to say hello and she said she'd like to meet for a drink or see a show I was in and gave me her mobile number. Which was nice. Busy-ness might get in the way, but I'll just have to make time.
Right, this and the wedding blog took altogether longer than I thought, though the entries may continue to be sporadic, with me not being in the office. Still, I am taking a laptop with me to Germany...
