Ac-cen-tu-ate the positive
Christ, I wasn't a barrel of laughs over the start of this week, but what a difference a day makes.
I get a call from a guy I've read scripts for before. Within 3 minutes I've agreed to help him out and I'll get a little beer money for my troubles. I'm performing a 20min excerpt from a play he's written (very good and very funny) at the 'Word Festival' in Stratford (East London) on the 4th March. I get to put my religious viewing of 'Shameless' to use as I'm playing a Manc (and a Yank). Might see if I can get a few agents to come along. Letters next week I think!!
Then the real surprise. Last night I get a voicemail from the director of the short film audition. They offered me the part!! I'm filming next Saturday through the day, but should only take a couple of hours. As a slight aside, during my shop on Wednesday, I bought some 'anti-ageing' / 'fatigue combating' stuff for my face to see if I can regain my youthful looks. 'Vanity, thou art a human failing, First relieved of the gods and next of holiness'. I still won't do botox though... ![]()
My sister is down visiting Luke this weekend (aww) so I'll hopefully get the chat from home at some point too. Supposed to be hooking up with Mark for a sensitive indie/motown disco night tonight, relaxing over the feast of footy on Saturday and have had to rule myself out of the 11s game this week due to my shin injury. Particularly gutted as the managers now have offered a bottle of bubbly to the highest scorer. Rather disappointed that this only happened after JB got a hat trick last week to overtake me by one. Still, it's a team game, so we win and lose together. Then the lunch date on Monday...hurrah!!
The self introspection (fuelled by post show blues) is over, the questions I was asking myself aren't important and are unanswerable and there are plenty of things to look forward to.
