Odd updates from my odd life

Hard work never hurt anyone...

...but it does make you sleep well.  Too well.  I slept through all three alarms this morning and was late for GWR.  Hey ho - not that it's a big drama.  I'm cruising through it but getting plenty of work done so they don't complain.  Much.

The play seems to continue to astound people.  On Wed, Gabi, Jes, Sue, Al from the Rob Roy (and green street - he's the one who nicks the chips in the cafe scene) and the ever, erm, eccentric Alain English esq. came and saw the craziness.  All on good form, talking about my on-stage antics and taking the p!ss, as well as being incredibly proud of my efforts.  Great to catch up with them all and it was so great of them (particularly G&J) to make the effort to come and see the show.  Only had 4 last night - two friends from script readings, who I'll be working with on Monday (my 'night off') and also the writer and a woman that sometimes bankrolls stuff at the theatre.  She fell asleep and snored during the first half as she was pished as a newt when she went in, but woke up and laughed like a drain midway through.  What doesn't kill you makes you stronger...

Audiences are looking sparse this weekend, though I have to say a massive thank you to everyone who's come in or booked for next week.  Without my friends, I would be sitting in a wig and fake beard every night for no good reason.  The PR has been really poor - no press as yet, though I hassled the director to call round today - and it does feel like they're not too concerned about it and looking more towards doing it in Edinburgh.  Many people have said that the play will go down a storm there and if I do it, it would be eligible for a Fringe First, but do I really want to give up that month (and the wages as well as the expenses) for a chance?  Will it really develop my career further or put me in bad finance street again?  Will I miss out on something that might push me further?  Can I ever get an agent?  Still, that's away in the future...

Just heard the Euro 2008 draw.  Our only hope is that we tend to play better against the big nations, but a group with France, Italy and Ukraine is pretty darn tough.

Weekend plans have changed now that Dougie is not down - waiting for a kitchen to arrive is a genius excuse - but I'm definitely looking forward to a long lie tomorrow and my flatmate Murph's 30th at night.  Football on Sunday where I hope to keep up my top scoring achievements (better than a goal every 2 games) and lead our brave Aberdonian warriors to a win over Hull City.  Nobody better say break a leg before that game though, what with me performing that night!!!

Now, I'll just try not to fall asleep at my desk.  Hope you have a great weekend.
